The moment is finally here. Apple’s long-awaited AirPower goes into production and is almost in stores. The wireless charging mat will be made by two manufacturers from 21 January.
AirPower in production
That is what ChargerLAB says on Twitter. The Chinese website says this on the basis of a reliable source. According to them, the wireless charging mat is produced by Luxshare Precision and Pegatron, two Chinese manufacturers. People start mass production on January 21st.
The source says the AirPower will come soon but does not mention a specific date. Earlier, Ming-Chi Kuo, a reliable Apple analyst, said the oval mat would be released this quarter. So it seems that the long wait is almost over. The AirPower is a mat with which you can charge multiple devices simultaneously. There is enough space for an iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods charging case.
Luxshare Precision has been working with Apple for years and produces under AirPods and Lighting adapters (to USB-c). Since 2017 it has already been speculated that this manufacturer will produce the charging mat. For this, they work together with Pegatron, which also makes iPhones.

The rumor of ChargerLAB, a website that mainly writes about smartphone accessories and gadgets, follows an earlier rumor by Steve Troughton-Smith, a well-known iOS developer. He said on 31 December that the technical problems with the AirPower were resolved, and that production would soon begin.
The AirPower was announced in 2017 and has already been postponed several times. Apple presumably had to deal with technical problems, such as overheating and malfunction. Nevertheless, the company never gave up the charging mat. References to the AirPower have regularly been found, for example in manuals from the iPhone XS and XS Max.
Thanks to the delay of the AirPower, it is still waiting for the wireless AirPods charging box. This case charges your earphones wirelessly. Maybe Apple will release this charger at the same time with the new AirPods, which according to Kuo will be released in 2020.
