Owners of the Huawei P10 and Mate 9 probably do not have to wait long for the Android Pie update. A preliminary version of the software is already available for a small group of testers.
Huawei P10 Android Pie beta available
Users who want to sign up for the Huawei P10 Android Pie beta must download an installation file from the manufacturer ‘s site. If you then agree to the conditions, you will be notified by Huawei as soon as the provisional update is available. You can download and try them via the app. Owners of the Huawei Mate 9 and Honor 9 can also register for the beta.
Note: this is a preliminary software, so chances are that you run into problems. Before installing, back up your old files, and keep in mind that apps sometimes crash. Do you prefer more security, then you better wait for the final update. That Huawei releases a beta suggests that the full version is available to everyone within a few weeks.
Huawei is now moving quite fast behind its Android Pie updates. The company released new software for the P20 and P20 Pro at the end of December, with the Mate 10 Pro a few days later. With that, Huawei is ahead of big rival Samsung, which until now only has the Galaxy S9and S9 Plus with an update.
This is new in Android Pie
Android Pie introduces, among other things, improved, richer notifications. You can also replace the menu bar at the bottom with new gesture control. Then you swipe up, for example, to go to your home screen, instead of pressing a home button. Google also relies on artificial intelligence, among other things to improve battery life. AI is also used in ‘Adaptive Brightness’, which automatically adjusts brightness to your preferences.
In addition, Huawei itself added some new features. The interface has a modified, refreshed design, a password management app has been added and the Huawei Share app has been updated. Apps also start up faster and they run smoother.
