Your AirPod case is lost: what now?

POV: You’re about to head out the door, grab your AirPods off the table to put in your case, but wait what ? Your AirPod case is not where it should be. uh, now what? Is there a quick way to find it? Check here what to do if your AirPod case is lost.

Lost AirPod case? You must do this

Mega annoying when your AirPod case is lost. Not only if it’s just your case, but especially if your AirPods themselves are still in it. No happy days . What you should do depends on what the situation is exactly.

Lost AirPod case including AirPods

Is not only your case no longer to be found, but have you also lost your AirPods themselves? Then you need the Find My feature on you iPhone or use computer. You fix this like this:

1. Open the ‘Find My’ app.
2. Tap “Devices”.
3. Tap your AirPods and you’ll see the location on the map.

Good to know : if you have new generation AirPods (AirPods 3, AirPods Pro or AirPods Max), you can tap ‘Search’ for the exact location. You will then be navigated to the location of your AirPods. Super handy!

Play sound on your AirPods

If your AirPods are nearby and connected to Bluetooth, you can also find them by having them play a sound. Let’s go!

1. Open the ‘Find My’ app.
2. Tap “Devices”.
3. Tap your AirPods, then tap Play Sound. The sound is getting louder, so if they’re around you’ll find them anyway!

Lost AirPod case without AirPods

Did you really just lose your case? Cool in itself, but it is more difficult to find your case without the AirPods. You cannot link the case itself to the ‘Search My’ app.

Unless you have the AirPods Pro (2nd generation)! Then you can find it in the same way as above. On the map and via sound. 

Do you have older AirPods? Then you really have to think carefully about where you last saw your AirPod case.

Check all your bags, jackets, pockets and just to be sure, also the laundry basket. And the washing machine 😉

Get notified if you leave your AirPods behind 

Do you want to avoid leaving your AirPods and/or AirPod case somewhere? On the train for example? 

#dehorror With an iPhone 12 or newer, you can set up a notification on your phone if you leave your AirPods lying around. Super chill! You fix this like this:

1. Open the ‘Find My’ app.
2. Go to “Devices” and choose your AirPods.
3. Under “Notifications,” tap “Notify if left.”
4. Turn on Notification if left behind.

Have you found your beloved AirPod case again? Phew, lucky you . Then give it a quick cleaning. Along with your AirPods themselves.
