More cheap Google Pixel smartphones on the schedule
More cheap Google Pixel smartphones in the making. Golobal Tech writes that Google is not going to leave it alone with the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL, and wants to make and release more affordable devices in the coming period. Possibly this happens on an annual basis, just like now with the more expensive Pixel phones. Every year Google comes with a new Pixel flagship, so far always in October. The Pixel 4 and 4 XL are also expected this October.
That we can expect more affordable Google phones in the coming years is, of course, good news. With suggested retail prices of 399 and 479 euros respectively, the Pixel 3a and 3a XL are twice as cheap as their larger brothers.
It also means that features of the more expensive phones, such as the impressive camera and Night Sight feature, eventually find their way to the middle segment.
About the Pixel 3a and 3a XL
More cheap Google Pixel smartphones in the making. Unfortunately, the Pixel 3a and 3a XL will not be released in the Benelux for the time being, although the phones will probably soon be available for purchase here through gray imports. As said, the phones have the same camera as the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL and receive updates for three years. They run out of the box on Android 9.0 (Pie), but the 3a and 3a XL are among the smartphones that are the first to receive Android 10.0 (Q) and future version updates.
The smartphones are equipped with a Snapdragon 670 chip, 4GB RAM, 64GB of non-expandable storage space and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. The Pixel 3a has a compact 5.6-inch screen (2220 by 1080 pixels), while the XL version has a 6-inch display (2160 by 1080 pixels). The Pixel 3a XL also has a larger 3700 mAh battery, while the regular 3a has to do with a battery capacity of 3000 mAh. Fast charging is possible with the included 18 Watt charger.
Google has made some other concessions to keep the price reasonable. For example, the Pixel 3a and 3a XL do not have stereo speakers at the front, they are not waterproof, the housing is made of plastic and there is no wireless charging. In contrast to the more expensive Pixel 3 (XL), they do have a headphone connection.
