Lovers of the Motorola RAZR comeback pay attention. The iconic flip phone makes a comeback and gets a foldable screen. Here is a hefty price tag opposite and unfortunately he is not in the Netherlands.
Motorola RAZR comeback on hands
The Wall Street Journal writes this on the basis of a source that is aware of Lenovo’s plans, the owner of Motorola. The company plans to release a new version of the RAZR. The big difference is that the 2019 version gets a foldable screen.
This allows you to fold the display in and out and use it as a phone or tablet. Further specifications are not yet known, but it seems likely that Lenovo will keep the folding mechanism in place. This is what the RAZR is known for. The device runs at least on Android.
Furthermore, the newspaper writes that the phone is initially only sold in the United States. Lenovo would have concluded an exclusive deal with provider Verizon and provide some 200,000 new RAZR devices. This seems a rather optimistic number for a regroup phone with a price tag of 1500 dollars, converted over 1300 euros.
However, this number could be correct, because a total of 130 million RAZRs were sold. In other words: there are more than enough people who have a warm heart for the iconic flip-flop phone and might be poking for a successor.
Foldable smartphones are new trends
More and more phone manufacturers are working on folding screens. Royale recently released the FlexPai, a device that you can fold it as a kind of book. This phone costs 1388 euros for the version with 128GB storage.
Samsung has also been working with a folding smartphone for years and at the end of 2018 showed the first prototype during a presentation. This device must appear somewhere in 2019. The price tag is still unknown.
