New iPod touch will appear in 2019
What once was one of the most successful Apple products ever, is now tucked away in a corner of the Apple Store: the iPod touch. In 2017 Apple canceled iPod nano and iPod shuffle, making the touch the only one that is still being sold.
Macotakara writes on the basis of anonymous sources that would close the production process that Apple has not forgotten the iPod. The iPod touch from 2015 would be upgraded so that in 2019 it can still be used as a full product.
Much concrete information is not yet known, but it is expected that Apple will slightly modify the design and provide the device with a newer A-series chip. This ensures that the iPod can run the latest apps and games for years.
No accidental timing
If the rumor is correct, the timing is no coincidence. The current iPod touch is still running on iOS 12 but is expected to no longer support iOS 13 this fall. This will also stop Apple sales so that the last iPod from the store disappears.
