Oppo, together with Qualcomm, has made a 5G smartphone. In addition, we can prepare for a telephone with a triple camera and 10x optical zoom. This device will be released in the second quarter of this year.
Oppo 5G smartphone unveiled
Before the Mobile World Congress (MWC) officially starts, the Chinese manufacturer has already made two revelations during their own event. First, they have joined forces with chip manufacturer Qualcomm. Together they have made a 5G smartphone that is controlled by the Snapdragon 855 chip. The device has not yet received a name and it is also unknown when and for how much it suits.
We do know that Oppo 5G smartphone will focus on cloud gaming with the device so that you can play worry-free on the go. In addition, the company will release Breeno later this year, a voice-controlled assistant. This has to compete with Bixby, Samsung’s clever helper.
Smartphone with 10x optical zoom is coming
Oppo also makes us comfortable by bringing out details about the first smartphone camera with 10x optical zoom. In the second quarter of this year, the company brings a device with such a triple camera on the market, although we do not yet know what this smartphone is called, or how expensive it will be.
It is clear that he gets three sensors that do not ‘stand’ in the telephone, but ‘lie’. Oppo calls this a ‘periscope module’. The primary lens of 48 megapixels is supplemented with two sensors.
Thanks to the wide angle lens with a 120-degree angle, you can easily get everyone in the picture. Finally, the device also has a telephoto lens. When these sensors are joined together you can use up to 10x optical zoom. This allows you to zoom in without loss of quality. Unfortunately, we do not yet know how many megapixels the two additional sensors have.
With optical zoom, you first get closer to the subject you want to capture. This is at odds with digital zoom, where your camera focuses on a part of the image and later brings it to the correct size. As a rule, the risk of loss of quality with optical zoom is therefore smaller.
