Oppo will release a new budget smartphone this week in the United States. The Oppo AX7 has a suggested retail price of 249 euros and is equipped with a large battery and dual camera.
Oppo AX7 official: a budget smartphone is battery test
From Wednesday 20 February, the Oppo AX7 is for sale in the United States. The device is sold for 249 euros at MediaMarkt, Belsimpel, and Coolblue.
The Oppo AX7 must combine premium design with affordable features. The device also has a large 6.2-inch screen, which fills around 88 percent of the front. The back is glossy blue and has a dual camera of 13 and 2 megapixels. The second lens is used to add a bokeh effect to your photos. The fingerprint scanner can also be found on the back.
In addition, the AX7 has a large battery with a capacity of 4230 mAh. That is about 40 percent larger than most smartphones in this price range and should be enough to use the device for almost two days without charging. The most important specifications at a glance:

No Android Pie, but Oreo
In some areas, the device is slightly behind the competition. The AX7, for example, is powered by a Snapdragon 450 chip, a Qualcomm’s now almost three-year-old chipset. This is mainly used in cheaper, older smartphones like the Motorola Moto G6 and HTC Desire 12 Plus. In addition, the 6.2-inch screen does not have full HD resolution, but only 720p. Although this is beneficial for battery life, it does not provide a very sharp picture.
Upon its release runs on the Oppo AX7 on Android 8.1 (Oreo) with the ColorOS 5.2 interface of the manufacturer. Oppo let us know that an Android Pie update is being worked on, but could not tell us when it will appear exactly. However, the ColorOS interface already offers some features of Android Pie, such as navigation based on gestures.
Oppo has been active in the Netherlands since last year. It is one of the largest manufacturers in China, which now also hopes to break through in the West. Until now, Oppo mainly tried to attract attention with expensive, striking smartphones like the Find X and RX17 Pro. With the AX7, the manufacturer also seems to be focusing on the budget market.
