Oppo has announced that it will be presenting its new Oppo Reno series smartphone in Zurich on 24 April. In recent weeks, a few things have leaked over the smartphone, and in this article, we list the expected features.
Oppo Reno series coming
Oppo is a big name in China and since last year also active in the Netherlands. The manufacturer also tries to break through in the West and has already released several smartphones here. Oppo came up with the striking Find X and RX17 Pro, and the company introduced the affordable AX7 in February. It is now clear that the manufacturer will launch a new smartphone line under the ‘Reno’ name. We discuss the most persistent rumors below with you.
1. Screen that (really) fills the entire front
The screen will probably be the most striking feature of the Oppo Reno series. That takes up almost the entire front and has no notch or camera hole at the top for the selfie camera. The front camera, on the other hand, is concealed in a module that slides up the entire width when you open the camera app. The OnePlus 7, too, would have such an extendable selfie camera, although it comes up vertically.
According to the latest rumors, the AMOLED screen of the Oppo Reno measures 6.6 inches and has a resolution of 2340 by 1080 pixels. That is not the highest resolution, but sufficient for the average user and also beneficial for the performance and battery life of the Reno.
2. Camera with good optical zoom
The Oppo Reno will probably also stand out from the camera. Allegedly there are three sensors on the back: a regular camera lens of 48 megapixel and a 20-megapixel lens with periscopic zoom. We know this from the Huawei P30 Pro, which can zoom up to 5x optically and offers up to 10x hybrid zoom. The Oppo Reno would also have these features.
Finally, there is a Time of Flight sensor, with which the Oppo Reno can better measure depth for portrait photos, for example. Such a sensor sends out infrared light to all objects around you. The sensor then registers how quickly that light reflects off to measure distances.
3. Good specifications and super fast charging
We also expect the Oppo Reno to be equipped with the best hardware of the moment. For example, a Snapdragon 855 chip with 6 / 8GB RAM and 128 / 256GB of internal storage is used. The Reno is probably also equipped with Android 9.0 (Pie), a USB-C port and fingerprint scanner under the screen.
Interesting is the 4000 mAh battery, which is likely to charge very quickly thanks to Oppo’s fast charging technology: SuperVOOC. Charging is possible with a maximum of 50 watts, which we know from the RX17 Pro. This device has the same fast charging technology and is 40 percent full after ten minutes and fully charged after about 40 minutes. That is much faster than almost any other Android smartphone at the moment.
