Samsung brings midrange Galaxy A50 to the United States for 349 euros

Samsung has announced the Galaxy A50 and also brings the device to the United States. The smartphone has striking good specifications and three cameras at the back. The phone can be bought here from mid-March.

Samsung Galaxy A50 is coming to the United States

While the Mobile World Congress is in progress in Barcelona, Samsung announces a new midrange device. It is the Galaxy A50, which features a large 6.4-inch super AMOLED screen with full-HD resolution. The phone has an Infinity U display that fills almost the entire front. At the top is a small notch for the selfie camera, at the bottom, there is still a clear edge visible.

The Galaxy A50 seems to offer a lot of value for its money. Samsung has given the smartphone an Exynos 9610 processor with 4 / 6GB RAM and 64 / 128GB of storage. Under the bonnet is also a hefty 4000 mAh battery, which must ensure that the A50 a lot longer than previous Galaxy A phones, which usually had smaller batteries. In addition, there is support for fast charging via the USB-C connection, there is also a headphone connection. Out of the box the A50 runs on Android 9.0 (Pie) with Samsung’s One UI skin.

Triple camera and more

Furthermore, the Samsung Galaxy A50 has a triple camera, with lenses of 25, 5 and 8 megapixels. The depth lens makes it possible to take portrait photos, where a beautiful bokeh effect fades the background. The portrait function also works with the 25-megapixel front camera, so you can provide your selfies with the effect. Samsung has processed various AI applications in the camera app, for example with scene recognition to adjust the settings based on what is in the image.

Remarkably, the Galaxy A50 also has a fingerprint scanner in the screen, a feature that we normally see with much more expensive smartphones. The OnePlus 6T has such a scanner, but the Galaxy S10 has one too. There is also face recognition to unlock the phone, but this only works via the front camera and is, therefore, a lot less safe.

The Samsung Galaxy A50 is in the Dutch stores in mid-March for a suggested retail price of 349 euros. The device comes in four colors: black, white blue and coral.
