The Samsung Galaxy A70 has a large screen with a fingerprint scanner in it, a 32-megapixel camera on both sides and can charge faster than the Galaxy S10. The device is available from this spring.
Samsung Galaxy A70 official: faster charging than S10
Samsung comes out with the Galaxy A70: the device has a large AMOLED screen of no less than 6.7 inches, with a full HD resolution. The screen fills almost the entire front, with only a small notch at the top for the 32-megapixel selfie camera. There are also three cameras on the back. There, the primary camera of another 32 megapixels is supported by a wide-angle lens of 8 megapixels and a depth sensor of 5 megapixels.
The most striking feature of the A70, however, is the battery. The device has a battery capacity of 4500 mAh, enough to use the device for about two days without charging. In addition, fast charging of up to 25 watts is supported. That is even faster than the Galaxy S10, which has a maximum charging speed of 15 watts. In theory, the battery is already more than half full after half an hour of charging.
The Samsung Galaxy A70 has an unknown chipset with eight cores, 6GB of memory and 128GB of storage. The device runs on Android 9.0 (Pie) and version 1.1 of the Samsung OneUI interface. It is optimized for use with one hand, a result of the large screen of the A70.
Recommended retail price and release date
At the time of writing, it is still unknown whether the Samsung Galaxy A70 will be released in the United States. The suggested retail price is also unknown. Given the specifications and prices of the other Galaxy A smartphones, we expect Samsung to give the Galaxy A70 a price of around 450 to 550 euros.
Galaxy A series is growing
Samsung is busy renewing its Galaxy A line-up this spring. With a set of new midrange smartphones, the company hopes to compete better with brands such as Huawei and Xiaomi. In February, Samsung introduced the Galaxy A50, a device of 349 euros equipped with a fingerprint scanner in the screen. Recently the Galaxy A40 of 249 euros was added, which has a borderless amoled image and a double camera on the back.
On April 10, Samsung is organizing an event in Milan where the new Galaxy A series is central. Although many of the smartphones in that series already appear to be revealed, the showpiece is only shown there. That is probably the Samsung Galaxy A90, a device equipped with an extendable, rotatable camera. It can be used for both the front and back.
