Samsung expands its range with two new affordable Android smartphones, the Galaxy M10 and M20. Both have a dual camera and front-filling screen, but are especially affordable: they cost less than 150 euros.
Samsung Galaxy M20 official presented
The Samsung Galaxy M20 and Galaxy M10 are available in India from the beginning of February. According to the manufacturer, they are meant for cost-conscious millennials, with many features that are important for this target group. Think of a big screen, decent camera and a battery that easily lasts a full day.
Although the smartphones are aimed at emerging markets, they will probably also appear in the Netherlands later this spring. At the end of last year, sources claimed that Samsung is planning to sell the two devices in Germany, France, and the United Kingdom. Samsung has already announced that smartphones will soon be sold internationally.
Galaxy M20: affordable battery sample
In recent years, Samsung has put down relatively limited budget smartphones, such as the Galaxy J4 Plus and Galaxy J6. With the Galaxy M20, however, Samsung catches up quickly. The smartphone has a 6.3-inch screen with full HD resolution, a relatively smooth new Exynos 7885 chip and 3 or 4 GB RAM. Especially impressive is the battery capacity of 5000 mAh, enough to use the M20 for two days without charging. In addition, the device supports fast charging.
On the back is a double camera of 13 and 5 megapixels. The second camera has a wide-angle lens, with which you shoot broader photos. The front is a selfie camera of 8 megapixels. In India, consumers will soon pay around 140 euros for a model with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage space, and 170 euros for 4GB RAM and 64GB storage.
Galaxy M10: an entry-level model with a dual camera
The Samsung Galaxy M10 is a real entry model, and will soon be sold in India for only 100 euros. For that amount, you get a smartphone with a large 6.2-inch screen with HD resolution of 1520 by 720 pixels. Here, too, there is a double camera of 13 and 5 megapixels on the back. The front is a 5-megapixel selfie camera.
This variant is standard equipped with 2GB of memory and 16GB of storage space, but for a few bucks more you get 3GB and 32GB. The Galaxy M10 has an Exynos 7870 chip and a battery capacity of 3400 mAh. Charging is via the micro-USB connection.
Android Pie update will come later
Remarkably, both smartphones still run on Android 8.1 (Oreo). Although Android Pie has been available for manufacturers for almost six months now, it will take some time before that software is available for the Galaxy M series. Only at the end of the summer, Samsung says an update for both smartphones to bring.
