The Samsung Internet Browser, which comes standard with all smartphones from the South Korean company, has received a major update. The latest version makes it easier to operate the browser with one hand, while also adding a dark mode.
One UI update with dark mode
Version 9.2 of the Samsung Internet Browser prepares the browser for the future. The update introduces various improvements to make it easier for you to operate the browser with one hand, by moving down important interface elements.
This is one of the spearheads of One UI, the new Android skin from Samsung that has already been rolled out to various phones. Examples of this are the Galaxy S9, S9 Plus, Note 9 and Galaxy A8 (2018). The A8 (2018) recently received the Android Pie update.
Also new in the Samsung Internet Browser is the Dark Mode; in other words, a dark mode that completely changes the appearance of web pages. This is great if you want to browse in the evening quietly, without being bothered by the bright light coming from your smartphone screen. A dark mode is also beneficial for the battery life of your phone if it has an OLED screen. Fortunately, most Samsung devices have this.
If you already have a dark mode of One UI enabled on your Samsung phone, the browser uses dark colors as standard. Conveniently, you can switch Dark Mode on or off at any time. You can do this via the settings button at the bottom right, by tapping on ‘Dark position’. Subsequently, the website that you are currently visiting will have a dark color, with for example a black background and soft, light letters.
Download Samsung Internet Browser
Although the name of the app suggests otherwise, the Samsung Internet Browser can be used on almost all Android devices. However, your phone must run on Android 5.0 or higher. You can download the browser in the Play Store via the link below.
If the latest version is not yet available, you can also manually download the apk file. You can find instructions in our tip about installing apk files on your Android.
