Sony Xperia 1 officially announced

As in previous years, Sony is present at the Mobile World Congress and this year the manufacturer is launching a new flagship: the Xperia 1. The company seems to drop the ‘Xperia XZ‘ name and opts for the simpler ‘Xperia 1’.

At the same time, Sony is coming with the Xperia 10 and 10 Plus, which are in fact the successors of the latest Xperia XA phones. Finally, there is the Xperia L3, a budget device that does have the same name as its predecessor, the Xperia L2.Sony Xperia 1 officially

The main improvement of Sony Xperia 1 has to do with the screen. The smartphone is equipped with a 6.5 inch OLED screen with a 4K resolution and support for HDR. More importantly, the aspect ratio is 21 by 9, making the display more outrageous and much longer than other Android smartphones. The aspect ratio of 21 by 9 is also used in cinemas, which means that films can be viewed in full format on the Xperia 1, without black bars on the top, bottom or side. The larger display also makes multi-tasking easier.

The big other innovation is the camera. The Xperia 1 has a triple camera at the back, all 12 megapixels. It is a regular lens, a lens that makes optical zoom possible and a sensor that can capture entire wide images. Two lenses have optical image stabilization and the Xperia 1 has an option to capture full-HD super slow motion images. The three cameras also work together to make better photos in the dark.

The most important specifications

Furthermore, the Sony Xperia 1 is equipped with high-end specifications, including the latest Snapdragon 855 chip from Qualcomm. There is now 128 GB of internal storage, 6 GB of RAM and a 3300 mAh battery. Out of the box, the Xperia 1 runs on Android 9.0 (Pie), the most recent version of the mobile operating system. Sony is also neat with updates, so you can expect monthly security patches and fast upgrades to new Android versions. Below you will find the most important specifications at a glance.
